Sonny’s Chicken - “The Chi” Season 3
This set replicates a unique key location that was used in Season 2, but became unusable due to outside factors. The interior was meticulously recreated, from the stockroom to the sidewalk outside, including the bus stop shelter. “Sonny’s” is meant to be an aging fast food establishment, that a young principle character in the story takes over from its equally aging proprietor.
The side of the bus stop shelter blocks the camera from seeing the side of the stage from inside.
Axonometric views help the construction department carpenters visualize the assembly of many disparate flats, saving time in the long run. Carpenters love 3D views.
The counter display was lowered from the real-life version to improve line of sight for actors at the register.
Every wall elevation was detailed to replicate the original location, precisely.
This messed-up tile pattern is exactly as it is on location.
I’m sure this detail of the front entry tilework never made it to camera, either, but we did it anyway.
